About SMILES Preschool Programs

Keystone SMILES Community Learning Center has been providing preschool programs to area youth for nearly 22 years and is dedicated to the total development of children, integrating learning styles and individual needs to ensure children gain or enhance developmental skills necessary to succeed in school.

Approved Programs:

  • Licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Human Services.

  • Keystone STARS (Level 4).

  • AmeriCorps National Service Host Site

Curriculum

Keystone SMILES Preschools use The GOLD Curriculum. The curriculum’s framework focuses on the specific learning domains followed by the Pennsylvania Learning Standards for preschool children.

These domains consist of:

  • Social/Emotional

  • Language

  • Literacy

  • Mathematical

  • Cognitive

  • Physical Health

  • Science and Technology

  • Social Studies

Activities are age appropriate and tailored to the individual child. Children have the opportunity to engage in various types of activities, such as individual, small group, large group, active, quiet, indoor and outdoor experiences which develop skills and promote self confidence to stimulate all areas of the child’s growth.

Sharpsville Gardens Preschool Program

Preschool:

  • FREE Preschool for 3-5 years old (Enrollment and Meal Applications required)

  • STARS 4 and DHS Accredited Center

  • STEM/STREAM Curriculum

  • Experiential Learning

  • Free Nutritious meals: Meals are prepared and served at breakfast, lunch and snack time. These meals will follow a wellness policy enacted by the Department of Education. Sharpsville Gardens is a grantee of the Child Adult Care Food Program through the Department of Education.

Preschool Schedule

Monday—Friday 10:00 am—2:00 pm

Daily Activities include: Breakfast, Lunch, Snack, Creative Curriculum* Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Math, Health, Creative Play and lots of FUN!


Sharpsville Gardens After School Program

The mission of the center is to provide a safe learning environment with for children enrolled in elementary school that includes a nutritious meal, homework help, and engaging STREAM activities.

After-school Programming

Children in elementary school are provided a safe learning environment to receive homework help, engaging STREAM activities and a nutritious meal.

  • Homework Help

  • STREAM Curriculum (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Art, and Math)

  • Experiential Learning

  • Free Nutritious meals and snacks

Monday—Thursday 3:30 PM-5:00 pm

Daily Activities include: Dinner ,Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, Math, and lots of FUN!

Keystone SMILES Community Learning Center 's AmeriCorps program provides academic support programs in Sharpsville, Farrell, Greenville, Mercer, and Sharon in collaboration with Mercer County Housing Authority .

Programs offered are preschool, after-school, and summer.
